Mozilla Thunderbird's newsgroup reader kicks Outlook Express's ass 15
ways from Sunday.
I highly suggest it.
Take the improvement you see between OE and Thunderbird.
Multiply by 100,000.
Double that.
Cube the result.
Add the speed of sound.
Times that by the speed of light.
That's how much better Xnews is than Thunderbird when it comes to Usenet.
But if you don't care about binaries, it an needlessly complex waste of
time.

I don't care about binaries, and I've been using it for...god, 8 year or
something now.

It's just a better program. Smaller footprint, designed specifically for
the task at hand, smaller executable (i.e. smaller download), and the
only registry settings in it are optional (and all they do is set column
widths in the header pane).
